THE 1st EDITION OF THE “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” INTERNATIONAL
COMPETITION IN THE FIELD COMMONLY UNDERSTOOD
CLASSICAL MUSIC

hereinafter referred to as the “Regulations”

  1. The Organizer of the 1st edition of the “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” International Competition, hereinafter referred to as the “Competition”, is Fundacja “Muzyka do Potęgi”, based in Wiśniowa Góra (95-020), ul. Tyrolska 3A, KRS number 0000781568, registered by the Regional Court in Łódź-Śródmieście, XX Commercial Division of the National Court Register, NIP number 7282837355, hereinafter referred to as “The Organizer”.
  2. The honorary award of “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” statuette and honourable mentions for outstanding artistic, academic and educational achievements are granted as part of the Competition in the discipline of musical arts, in the field commonly understood as classical music.
  3. Aims of the “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” Competition comprise the following:
  • honouring prominent individualities and institutions from the world of classical music, representing particular categories of musical arts, as part of confrontation of musical, artistic, academic and educational achievements,
  • promoting artistic, academic and educational musical activity in the field of high culture,
  • promoting classical music in Poland and abroad,
  • promoting exceptional undertakings in music culture and projects focused on the development of new values and pursuit of original and innovative means of artistic expression,
  • supporting educational and popular science activities in the domain of classical music.
  1. The persons entitled to compete for awards in the “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” Competition are the persons and entities operating within the field of classical music: authors, artists, publishers, other natural persons involved in artistic activity, non-governmental organizations (foundations, societies), cultural institutions (private and state-owned), music institutions of higher education, hereinafter referred to as the “Candidate”.

4.1. The Organizer allows for the possibility of the Candidate being entered for the Competition by another person or entity upon submission of the Candidate’s complete application documentation.
4.2. The Candidate can submit an outstanding Polish, or foreign achievement, whereby:

4.2.1. in Polish Categories of the “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” Competition, the Candidate shall be a person or entity holding Polish citizenship, or an entity registered on the territory of the Republic of Poland. In the case of outstanding achievements involving an ensemble, such as a collective album recording, chamber concert, joint publication, etc., The Organizer shall allow for the participation of foreign persons and entities in it, yet the participation of Polish representatives in a given achievement shall be significant.

The Organizer shall allow for the dissemination of the Candidate’s outstanding achievement in Polish Categories of the Competition in the following situations: only in Poland, in Poland and abroad, only abroad.

4.2.2. in Foreign Categories of the “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” Competition, the Candidate shall be a person or entity not holding Polish citizenship, or an entity unregistered on the territory of the Republic of Poland. In the case of outstanding achievements involving an ensemble, such as a collective album recording, chamber concert, joint publication, etc., The Organizer shall allow for the participation of both foreign persons and entities as well as Polish people and Polish entities, yet the participation of foreign representatives in a given achievement shall be significant.

The Organizer shall allow for the dissemination of the Candidate’s  outstanding achievement in Foreign Categories of the Competition in the following situations: only abroad, in Poland and abroad, only in Poland.

  1. The achievements that can be submitted for The Competition and honourable mentions shall be outstanding achievements in the discipline of musical arts, in the field commonly understood as classical music, acclaimed in the year 2020 in the following categories:

Foreign Categories of the “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” Competition*

    • I Category – Music album
    • II Category – Composition
    • III Category – Premiere

    • VII Category – Scientific or popular science publication
    • VIII Category – Printed music

*Statuettes and honourable mentions of the “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” Competition are awarded as follows:

I Category – for an outstanding musical achievement, the outcome of which is the recording of the material and its dissemination on a music record (album) in 2020. The music record (album) is understood solely as a phonographic publication containing at least four recordings of different musical pieces, or 30 minutes of music minimum,

II Category – for an outstanding musical achievement in 2020, the outcome of which is a musical piece (composition) existing in the form of suitable music notation,

III Category – for an outstanding musical achievement in 2020, the outcome of which is a disseminated premiere performance of a musical piece given by any performing body,

IV Category – for an outstanding achievement as a soloist, or a soloist with orchestra in 2020,

V Category – for an outstanding musical achievement of a chamber ensemble in 2020,

VI Category – for an outstanding musical achievement in 2020 as a conductor,

VII Category – for an outstanding musical achievement in 2020, the outcome of which is the authorship of a disseminated musical publication of an academic, educational, popular science character, both monographic and joint one, in the field commonly understood as classical music,

VIII Category – for an outstanding musical achievement in 2020, the outcome of which is the authorship of a disseminated printed music publication and/or editorial work regarding printed music,

IX Category – for an outstanding musical achievement in 2020, the outcome of which is organization and production of a music event (e.g., a competition, academic-artistic-educational seminar, symposium, congress, conference, festival, a series of concerts, etc.).

  1. The Candidates shall be assessed by the award committee appointed by The Organizer, hereinafter referred to as “The Award Committee”. The Award Committee of the Competition shall feature leading specialists – authors, artists and scientists from the world of classical music.
  2. All Awards are of honorary character and have the form of statuettes and diplomas.
  3. In each category of the Competition, there will be awarded the statuettes of MUZYCZNE ORŁY and honourable mentions – diplomas (gold, silver and bronze).

8.1. The Organizer reserves the right to, in justified cases, permit The Award Committee to increase or decrease the number of awards and granted honourable mentions, as well as grant other special awards, and reserves the right not to grant any award in a given category.  The Award Committee’s verdicts shall be final and irrefutable and The Organizer shall have an exclusive right to interpret the Regulations.

  1. The Competition entrants shall submit a complete set of documents and pay the due fee.

9.1. A complete set of documents covers the following:

9.1.1. Application form (Annex no.1 to the Regulations);
In the application form, the Candidate describes and presents in detail the submitted achievement, according to the given description,

9.1.2. Portfolio of the Candidate’s outstanding achievement entered for the Competition;
The portfolio of an outstanding achievement shall be a selected material documenting the achievement submitted for assessment to the Competition Award Committee (e.g., audio-video material, individual catalogues, photographs, musical works, books and/or records, published works, works and activities put into public circulation, etc.). It is required that the portfolio should be submitted in the two forms: material and digital, both constituting an overall confirmation of the achievement entered for the Competition.

The material form comprises books, sheet music and/or records, catalogues, photos, etc.

As regards the digital form, the following file formats are only accepted (the size of the files sent by email cannot exceed 20 Mb, whereas the maximum size of the files shared via external links cannot be larger than 500 Mb):

      • text files: rtf, doc, pdf, txt, ods, odp, ppt, docx, pptx;
      • audio files: mp3 minimum 192 kbs, wav;
      • video files: mpg, mpeg, avi, mp4;
      • photos: jpg, png, tif, svg;
      • links from external platforms such as YouTube, Vimeo, Google Drive, OneDrive, Dropbox.

Please note that in the case of an achievement that exists only in a digital form, yet it is of considerable significance and scale, The Organizer shall allow for the possibility of submitting the portfolio in a digital form only.

9.1.3. The Candidate’s and a prospective Laureate’s statement (Annex no.2 to the Regulations).

9.1.4. Confirmation of the “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” Competition entry fee payment 

9.2. As regards the fees required to enter the Competition, the payment details are as follows:

9.2.1. For Candidates from Poland

9.2.2. For Candidates from abroad

Please note that transfer fees and any other bank commissions are covered by the Candidate.

9.2.3. The Organizer, bearing in mind that achievements in musical arts intermingle, shall allow for the possibility of Candidates entering the Competition in a few categories simultaneously; in that case, the Candidate submitting their achievement in each subsequent category shall pay the fee reduced by 50%, thus:

      • Candidates from Poland in each subsequent category – PLN 185
      • Candidates from abroad in each subsequent category – EUR 50.

Please note that transfer fees and any other bank commissions are covered by the Candidate.

9.2.4. The Organizer stipulates that in the event of the Candidate’s withdrawal from the Competition, the entry fee shall not be refunded.

  1. The Organizer stipulates that the applying Candidate or the entity entering the Candidate/an outstanding achievement for the Competition, shall be held fully liable for the accuracy of the presented achievement(s).
  2. The complete and signed set of the above-mentioned documents (Art. 9 of the Regulations) shall be submitted by the Candidate in a paper version by the 27th June 2021 (the postmark date being understood as the date of dispatch) and in electronic version by the 27th June 2021 as well. Paper application forms shall be sent to the following address: Fundacja “Muzyka do Potęgi”, ul. Tyrolska 3a, 95-020 Wiśniowa Góra, whereas electronic application forms shall be sent to the following email address: zgłoszenie@muzyczneorly.pl

11.1. A foreign Candidate shall submit application documents in English. In the case of publications attached to the portfolio, e.g. books, articles, catalogues, the Candidate shall be obligated to attach their English translations made at one’s own expense.

  1. After the deadline, i.e. the 27th June 2021, the Candidate shall not be allowed to make any amendment and/or attach a complement to the priorly submitted application form.
  2. The materials submitted by the Candidate during the application process shall become archive documents and shall not be returned.
  3. The achievement presented in the application documentation shall be marked by the following:

14.1. exceptional value of this particular artistic, or/and scientific, or/and educational achievement;

14.2. remarkable originality of the concept, uniqueness and/or innovativeness;

14.3. thoroughness and clearness of prepared application documents (description in the application form, well-ordered portfolio presenting the outstanding achievement).

  1. The schedule of the Competition results announcement and the award ceremony:

15.1. A list of the Competition Laureates shall have been announced on the www.muzyczneorly.pl website by the 29th August 2021.

15.2. The award ceremony with the statuettes of “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” and honourable mention diplomas (gold, silver, bronze) being presented to the Laureates, shall take place at the Gala in Łódź in the third quarter of 2021; the Laureates shall be informed in detail by The Organizer via email or by phone.

15.3. In the event of a large number of candidates, The Organizer reserves the right to postpone the date of the Gala for the last quarter of 2021, of which the Laureates shall be informed.

15.4. Each Candidate shall receive a diploma of participation in the Competition, sent by The Organizer via email.

  1. The Organizer reserves the right to make audio and video recordings of the Gala event, and of the statuettes and honourable mention diplomas (gold, silver, bronze) presentation as part of the Competition, as well as to make use of those recordings in order to archive and promote the Gala. Archive recordings can be publicly reproduced and disseminated without the Candidates’ additional consent. In particular, The Organizer reserves the right to separately authorize radio and television stations to record and broadcast the event with no need for Candidates’ separate consent. The Candidates shall not be entitled to any pay claims in that respect.
  2. When inviting a Laureate to the award ceremony presenting “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” statuettes and honourable mention diplomas (gold, silver, bronze), The Organizer shall not refund any expenses incurred in connection with the award ceremony as regards travel, accommodation, catering and stay.
  3. The Organizer stipulates that in the case of restrictions recurring due to the SARS-COV2 epidemic, the Gala shall not be held and the results shall be published on the www.muzyczneorly.pl website, while the awarded statuettes of “MUZYCZNE ORŁY” and honourable mention diplomas (gold, silver, bronze) shall be sent at The Organizer’s expense to the addresses specified by the Laureates.
  4. Participation in the Competition shall be tantamount to the acceptance of all provisions of the Competition Regulations.
  5. Each Candidate shall give their consent to process the personal data included in their application form (Annex no.1) and statement (Annex no.2), as well as to publicize the Competition results, for the needs of the Award Ceremony Gala organization. Information on the Laureates shall be posted in The Organizer’s publications, including The Organizer’s website and social networking media.
  6. All the information regarding the Competition proceedings shall be shared through the www.muzyczneorly.pl website.
  7. Annexes no.1 and no.2 (application form and statement) constitute an integral part of the Regulations. All queries should be sent to the following address: konkurs@muzyczneorly.pl
